ACTING WITH COMPASSION
The way in which we act towards the rest of the natural world says a lot about our relationship with it and acting compassionately also helps us reconnect. Showing compassion for all of nature in the things that we do not only helps the rest of nature to thrive but it also helps reaffirm the love and care we have for the natural world.
COMPASSION FOR NATURE, COMPASSION FOR SELF
Compassion is borne out of a sense of similarity with nature which is at the core of what nature connectedness is with this sense of similarity helping to motivate us to help the natural world to which we belong. It is not only a sense of compassion towards nature that is important as it can also foster self-compassion too, helping us be kinder not only to the rest of nature but to ourselves too.
COMPASSION ACTIVITIES TO TRY
Make a home for nature whether it be a bird box, hedgehog house or bug hotel, create space of nature wherever you are
Help move an insect or spider in your home to a safe space rather than harming it
Choose eco and animal friendly/cruelty free products when shopping
Join local conservation groups to help nature where you live through direct action
Write to your elected official about environmental issues to help support nature through indirect action
